The National Democratic Congress, (NDC) has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to as a matter of urgency publish in full, the report on the Emile Short Commission of Enquiry that investigated circumstances surrounding the violence that erupted at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency by-election on January 31.

In a statement signed by the National Communication Officer Sammy Gyamfi, the party recalled that the Emile Short Commission presented its report to President Akufo-Addo on March 15, and till date, it has not been published.

Library file: On Thursday, March 14, 2019, President Akufo-Addo received report on incidents of violence that occurred during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election from Emile Short Commission of Inquiry

The statement said it is a blatant disregard for the principles of transparency and accountability that the President swore to uphold.

It added that though the NDC boycotted proceedings of the Commission, it believes the Ayawaso West Wuogon issue is a matter of national and international concern and that the people of Ghana deserve to know the findings and recommendation of the Commission.

The party is worried that till date, the perpetrators of the violence captured on video, have still not been brought to book.
