The Chiefs and People of Santrokofi Traditional Area in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region who are part of the petitioners for the proposed Oti Region have declared their support for the creation of the new region and pledged to vote massively on the referendum day come December, 27th.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Nifahene, Nana Sarku Brempong.

According to the statement, Ghana had only five regions at the time of independence but the number increased in time to spread development and the proposed Oti Region is no exception.

The statement added that, Guan speaking people were the first to settle in Ghana but were scattered across the country due to disputes and other factors and the of Oti Region will be the only area to be dominated by tribes of the Guans in Ghana.

The statement therefore called on all citizens of Santrokofi across the globe to turn up in their numbers on the referendum day to vote for the creation of the new region.
