Panelists on our Current Affairs Programme, FOCUS which discussed the Supreme Court ruling on the voting rights of Deputy Speakers of Parliament and the decision by the Plaintiff, Justice Abdulai to go for a review have been explaining their position.

A Private Legal Practitioner Musah Ahmed who joined the discussion via Zoom pointed out some loopholes in the Constitution in the ruling on the matter.

“The Constitution did not specifically provide that a Deputy Speaker shall have no right to vote, that loophole which was left there, the Parliament of Ghana didn’t have the power to fill that gap”, according to Lawyer Ahmed.
