South Korea’s Foreign Minister calls on Vice President Bawumia

The visiting South Korea’s Foreign Minister, Kang Kyung-wha, has called on the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, at the Jubilee House in Accra.

The two leaders discussed ways of further strengthening the existing mutual ties between Ghana and South Korea, especially in the areas of trade, human capital development and peace building.

Describing Ghana as a “key partner in the West Africa sub-region”, Madam Kyung-Wha commended the country’s democratic and peaceful credentials, which have made her an attractive destination for South Korean investors.

The visiting Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for Ghana’s continued support for the peaceful resolution of the Korean crises, adding that South Korea is fully behind the President’s vision of a ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ and will help Ghana to achieve it”.

For his part, Vice President Bawumia lauded the cooperation between Ghana and South Korea over decades, adding that the country’s desire to adopt the South Korean model, which focuses on human resource development and skills acquisition suits Ghana’s needs.

Madam Kyung-wha is in Ghana on a two day working visit as part of a three-nation African tour which will also take her to Ethiopia and South Africa.
