The Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Ocquaye, has deferred the debate on three-in-one contract agreement between Ghana (Ministry of Energy) and Powerchina International Group Limited amounting to over $895 million for hydro-power plant and co at Pwalugu.

The Speaker has taken the decision to postpone the debate to Tuesday, February 11, 2020, to allow members to have an ample time to contribute meaningfully to the debate.

Despite approval of the facility by the Finance Committee, Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, has in a media briefing stated his disdain for the details surrounding the amount.

They also, at news conference on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, questioned the cost of the projects and pledged to raise preliminary objections at the plenary during debates.

The project was in fulfillment of President Akufo-Addo’s pledge to “avert the perennial flooding caused by the spillage of the Bagre Dam”, as the construction of the dam will be the permanent solution to the problem of spillage from the Bagre Dam.
