The Minister for Fisheries and Aqua Culture, Elizabeth Afoley Quaye has rendered an apology to parliament over her absence last week.
The Minister who was billed to answer questions from MPs last week Thursday did not turn up.
Explanation from majority leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu that the sector minister had traveled out of the country did very little to convince the Speaker of Parliament Prof. Mike Oquaye, who dispatched a delegation to the Ministry to bring the Deputy Minister or the Chief Director to respond to the questions.
The delegation, however, returned empty-handed.
Appearing before the House today (October 2019), the Minister explained that she had the call when she was already on her way out of the country for other official duties.
The Speaker while accepting the apology rebuked the Minister and also warned Chief Directors to up their game in assisting Ministers to deliver.
