Voters registration: Over 24,000 people register on Day 2 in Western North

Statistics from the Western North Regional Directorate of the Electoral Commission show, that 24,489 people were registered on the first two days of the Biometric Voters’ Registration Exercise being carried out in the nine Districts and Municipalities of the Region.

Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality recorded the highest number of 4,476, with Suaman District having the least of 1,044.

The Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Godwin Tawiah Okley, told GBC’s Radio Ghana at Sefwi Wiawso, the regional capital, that their biggest challenge is rains else they would have exceeded the figure so far captured.

He was confident the Region can meet its target of 60,000 registrants by the end of the first phase of the exercise.

He further commended the public for its spirit of patriotism in the exercise and urged the people to continue to contribute towards the development of Ghana.
