Western region NDC Primaries underway

Voting is underway at various polling stations at the constituency levels in the Western Region to elect parliamentary candidates for the National Democratic Congress, (NDC).

GBC’s correspondent in the Ahanta West district reports that, voting started at 0720 hours and 75 delegates out of 1,294 had cast their ballots as of 0940 hours.

Three candidates contesting the election  are; George Aboagye, a former Member of Parliament, (MP), for the constituency, Ebenezer Essien and Ebeneezer Aidoo.

The District Electoral Officer, Randy Sokpe said the exercise is progressing smoothly without any incidence as at now.The Constituency Chairman, Okumi Andoh expressed happiness with the peaceful nature of the processing and was hopeful of a successful primary.

In Sekondi, three candidates are contesting the primaries.

They are Betty Bosomtwi-Sam, a former deputy Western Regional Minister, Charlotte Odoom a former Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive and Charles Hagan.

624 delegates are expected to vote in the constituency.

As of 1025hours 205 delegates had voted.

The centre has also not recorded any incident.
