President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the Africa Forward Summit, a high-level France-Africa partnership meeting.

The summit, organised by French President Emmanuel Macron, has brought together African Heads of State, global business leaders and international partners to strengthen collaboration on sustainable development and economic resilience across the continent.

President Mahama is expected to participate in a high-level discussion on Green Industrialisation and Energy Transition on Tuesday morning. The session will focus on promoting Africa’s industrial growth while addressing the challenges posed by climate change and the global climate crisis.

As the African Union Champion for African Financial Institutions, President Mahama will also take part in a working lunch on the Reform of the International Financial Architecture. Discussions will centre on improving African countries’ access to sustainable financing and ensuring a more equitable global financial system that responds to Africa’s development needs.

The President will further co-chair a roundtable discussion on health under the theme, “Rethinking Global Health and Building Resilient National Health Systems,” as part of efforts under the Accra Reset Initiative.

On the sidelines of the summit, President Mahama is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several international leaders, including United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva, and President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development Alvaro Lario.

The meetings are expected to focus on global cooperation, economic stability, food security, and development opportunities for Ghana and the African continent.

President Mahama is expected to depart Nairobi on Tuesday evening and return to Accra.
