Six die in accident at Babile

Six people have died while 28 others sustained various degrees of injuries when a DAF truck with registration number GT 776-C carrying traders from the Babile Market in the Lawra district got involved in an accident.

Speaking to Radio Ghana’s Mark Smith, the Upper West Regional Police PRO Inspector Gideon Boateng said the truck hit a pothole when it got to Serekpere in the Nadowli-Kaleo district around 20:30hrs GMT on the 26th of this month.

The traders were on their way to Wa after trading in Babile.

According to the Police, the driver of the vehicle is yet to be identified.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to the Upper West Regional Hospital for autopsy and preservation while the injured were conveyed to the Nadowli District Hospital for treatment.
