President John Dramani Mahama has admitted cocoa producer price cut was a tough but necessary decision for ghana’s wellbeing.
“Revising cocoa producer price was a difficult decision to take, but I had to take them to ensure our collective well being”, he noted.
Speaking during the State of the Nation Address in Parliament Friday, February 27, he assured cocoa farmers that the government’s reforms will transform the sector and guarantee fair prices.
Acknowledging the concerns and protests of farmers, he assured them that the reforms announced by Government will see a total transformation of the cocoa sector and guarantee them a fair and transparent price.
The government has revised the cocoa producer price, a move aimed at benefiting farmers and ensuring sustainability in the sector. President Mahama explained that the decision was not taken lightly, but was necessary to address challenges facing the industry.
