South African President Ramaphosa promises to end xenophobic attacks

South Africa President, Cyril Ramaphosa has promised to address xenophobic attack in his country.

Mr. Ramaphosa who is on a state visit to Ghana described the attacks as a challenging period in the history of the country.

He admitted dealing with issues of Migration in south Africa is a challenge describing it as a fault line.

Addressing a joint Press Conference President Ramaphosa condemned the attacks describing it as totally unacceptable.

He said South Africa is open to trade with the rest of Africa.

President Akufo-Addo lauded efforts by South Africa to resolve the issues of Xenophobic attacks.

The two leaders later witnessed signing of two agreements, by the National Commission and joint communique on the working visit between Ghana and South Africa.

Mr. Ramaphosa arrived in the country on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at about 6:30pm in a South African Air Force plane.

He was received at the Jubilee Lounge of the Kotoka International Airport upon arrival by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, George Ayisi Boateng, Philbert Johnson, Director of Africa Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and officials of the South African High Commission to Ghana.

He will be in Ghana from Wednesday, December 4, to Thursday, December 5, 2019.
