Teacher Unions in the northern region have called for the suspension of the Pre-Tertiary Education Bill, to allow for further consultation with stakeholders.

The unions have also called on the Ministry of Education to furnish teachers with the document for study and input.

Speaking at a News Conference in Tamale, the Northern Regional Chairman of GNAT, Attah Longiya emphasised that, the Bill when passed will impact education negatively.

Parliament reportedly referred the Teacher Unions to the Education Ministry for further engagement on some outstanding matters of concern to them on the pre-tertiary education bill.

The bill is currently before Parliament.
