President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commended the people of the Upper East Region for the support given him during his eight year tenure as president. At a stakeholders engagement in Bolgatanga President Akufo-Addo said his visit was to express his appreciation to them and also account for his stewardship since assuming office as President.

For two consecutive terms, Nana Akufo-Addo ruled this country as president in the fourth republic. He was first sworn into office in 2017 after he won the 2016 general elections. He was again voted to continue as president for the second but last term as contained in Article 66 of the 1992 constitution. When he met some stakeholders at Bolgatanga, President Akufo-Addo expressed his appreciation to them for the love and loyalty during his days of political campaigns and as president.

“In three months’ time I will be stepping down as president of the Republic. So it is important for me to come here in person to say a big thank you for the support and encouragement that you’ve given me over the last eight years.”

President Akufo-Addo added that, “it is the greatest honor of my life to have served as president of the republic of Ghana. It is not every president that had the opportunity to go two terms. I don’t take this lightly at all. That’s why I have come here to say a big thank you.”

President Akufo-Addo was confident that he did not disappoint the people of the region in his eight year tenure. According to him, he has never been discriminatory in his share of the national cake.

“I can confidently say that I have been fair in the distribution of the national cake to every part of the country including the Upper East Region. You have benefitted from road infrastructure, agenda 111 and ambulances, planting for food and jobs, educational infrastructure, free SHS, SOCO, among others” he said.

The President was accompanied by the Member of Parliament for Nandom and Minister of State in the Office of the President Mr. Ambrose Dery, the Upper East Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, and some national executives of the NPP.
