U.S. donates 14 armoured vehicles to Ghana Armed Forces to boost northern border security

The United States government has donated 14 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) during a ceremony held at the 153 Armoured Regiment, Abuga Square in Burma Camp.

The donation was presented by US Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Virginia Palmer to demonstrate the strong bilateral defence cooperation between the two nations.

During the handover ceremony, Ambassador Palmer emphasized the critical importance of securing Ghana’s northern border, particularly in light of current regional security challenges.

The US Ambassador reaffirmed her country’s dedication to strengthening Ghana’s defence capabilities through continued partnerships, capacity-building programs, and the provision of essential military equipment.

Ghana’s Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, who was present at the ceremony, expressed deep appreciation to the United States Government and its citizens for their continued support in fostering regional and global peace. 

The Minister assured that Ghana would maintain the donated vehicles to ensure their optimal performance and longevity.
