Ussuya Ghana Limited helps five hospitals to fight COVID-19 in Upper West

In keeping with its corporate social responsibility, a construction company, Ussuya Ghana Limited has reached out to the Upper West Region with a package worth ¢150,000.00 towards the fight against COVID-19.

A staff of Ussuya (Gh) Limited, Francis Luther presented the items to the Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih in Wa.

The items which ranged from hand sanitizers, contactless thermometers, automatic dispensers, nose masks to hand gloves were meant for five health facilities in the Region.

The Transport Manager of Ussuya Ghana Limited, Francis Luther, made the presentation on behalf of the Managing Director of the Company, Alhaji Yussif Yakubu.

He said the company has found it necessary as its corporate responsibility to donate to the Region in support of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Luther pointed out that the care for the needy was also part of the motivation for the company to reach out to Upper West.

He reiterated that the pandemic is very real and advised that whatever the World Health Organization (WHO) and Ghana’s health officials are telling us, we should comply and protect ourselves.

The Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih on behalf of the chiefs and people of the Upper West Region expressed appreciation to Ussuya (Gh.) Limited for coming to the aid of the Upper West.

He said: “since confirmation of COVID-19 case in the Region, we have called on worthy sons and daughters of the Upper West Region to come to our aid.”

Dr Bin Salih continued: “I’m happy that since that call was made, we’ve had a number of donations and others have also indicated their readiness to come to the assistance of the region.

Ussuya Ghana Limited, is a well-known construction firm not only in the Upper West Region but in the entire nation and this is not the first time the company is coming to the assistance of the Region. The company has done that countless number of times.”

The Upper West Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Osei Kuffour Afreh was who beside himself with joy thanked the donors for responding to their call when they pressed the need button, saying the commodities, received would go a long way to fill in some of the gaps.

He appealed to other public spirited individuals and organisations to help improve health delivery in Upper West.

The beneficiary hospitals were Wa Municipal, Wa Islamic, Ahmadiyya in Kaleo, St Theresa’s in Nandom and Tumu Municipal.
