Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called for a strong political will on the part of African Heads of State to end the spate of terrorism growing across the continent.

He said the canker is creating a threatening murky ground for the future of the youth, who are already in a vulnerable state.

Addressing  the closing ceremony of the Kofi Annan Peace and Security Forum, Dr. Bawumia, said the growing dynamics in global threats require a radical rethink of existing policies; “we cannot build resilient societies if we allow violent extremism to take hold of our communities.”

Several former African Heads of States, diplomats, Service Chiefs, Peace Ambassadors and other senior personalities engaged in the quest for lasting peace in Africa on the second day of the Kofi Annan Peace and Security (KAPS) Forum in Accra.

Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude to participants of the forum and urged those from other African countries to practise all the positive outcomes realised at the two day forum.

He said the African continent desperately needs growth and prosperity, and believed the recommendations and outcomes of the maiden security forum, if implemented, will go a long way to shape the security landscape of Africa, and many more of its citizens will begin to feel more safe.
