Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to engaging businesses directly to ensure that policies respond to the needs of ordinary Ghanaians.
Speaking during a visit to Reroy Cables in Tema, the Vice President said the government was deliberately reaching out to businesses, particularly those led by women, as part of efforts to promote inclusive economic growth.

”We are interested in visiting all businesses led by women, however big or small,” she said. “The fact that they are doing something to support themselves, support others and feed their families is an important economic contribution.”
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang explained that the visits form part of a broader strategy to strengthen collaboration between government and the private sector.

”We didn’t want to be working in isolation and just waiting for reports. It is important that we hold hands even in the process,” she noted.
The Vice President praised the Chief Executive of Reroy Cables, Madam Kate Quartey-Papafio, for excelling in a manufacturing sector where women are often underrepresented.

”We are particularly happy to be here because it is a business led by a woman in a business environment that you don’t always see women in,” she said. “It is time we highlighted the efforts of people like Kate Papafio.”
She also encouraged the company to continue creating opportunities for women, expressing confidence in their ability to thrive when given the necessary support.
”All we need to do is give them the opportunity, raise them up, and they will fly,” she stated.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang further commended the company’s workers and management for contributing to its growth and success over the years.
Reroy Cables is one of Ghana’s leading manufacturers of copper and aluminium cables, serving the energy, industrial and telecommunications sectors. The company is led by Madam Kate Quartey-Papafio and is recognised for its commitment to quality, innovation and employee development.
The Vice President was accompanied by the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ebi Bright, and other government officials.
