Member of Parliament for Biakoye, Jean-Marie Formadi has positioned herself as a vital supporter of young footballers in her constituency, with her grassroots talent hunt attracting the attention of former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu.

Formadi’s innovative program brings local youths straight onto the field, where they form teams on the spot to demonstrate their skills.

This hands-on approach in October quickly proved its worth, as Konadu arrived to scout promising players, leading to one standout securing a trial with in Prampram.

“You come onto the field, we put you together in a team and you play. And we had our legend, coach Maxwell Konedu. He came around to scout for some players and we were lucky to have one who made it to Prampram to play Justify,” Formadi shared with GTVSport Plus.

She remains hopeful for the selected player’s future, affirming the wealth of talent in Biakoye. “So we pray that something good will come out of that because we have the talent in Biakoye,” she added, while announcing plans to make the event annual starting with its inaugural December edition.

“This is the first of its kind. Interesting, very interesting,” Formadi noted, pledging to repeat the initiative yearly to sustain football development and open doors for more young athletes in the Oti Region.
