An alleged mentally retarded man has killed and cooked parts of the body of a pregnant woman believed to be in her eighth month at Muramura, a community near Nkawkaw.

According to reports, the 30-year-old pregnant woman, Alimatu Karim, did not return last Saturday after leaving home in search of cola nuts.

The next day some residents saw Kofi Sammy cooking some suspicious looking meat in the bush and upon interrogation, the suspect admitted it was human flesh and led residents to a pit where the disfigured body of Alimatu had been deposited.

Confirming the incident, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, said some residents mobbed the suspect upon admitting the offence setting him ablaze.

DSP Ebenezer Tetteh told GBC’s Cynthia Boateng that both bodies have been deposited at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital for autopsy and investigations have commenced.
