The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) emerged as one of the top winners at the 2025 Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards, held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. The grand ceremony was hosted by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to celebrate excellence and professionalism in Ghanaian journalism.

The event drew several esteemed dignitaries, including H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, Hon. Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka (Minister for Interior), Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu (Minister for Government Communications), Dr. Frank Amoakohene (Ashanti Regional Minister) and Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi (Mayor of Kumasi), among several others.

GBC’s journalists made an impressive showing, earning five prestigious awards: Doreen Ampofo – Female Journalist of the Year, Best in Documentary Reporting (Radio) and Best in Gender Reporting, Esther Aidoo – Best Reporter in Disability Reporting, Rachel Kakraba – Best in Feature Reporting (Radio), Peter Agengre – Best in Education Reporting, GTV – Best English TV Station.

The wins highlight GBC’s continued leadership in quality journalism and its dedication to telling stories that inform, inspire and drive national development.
