Preliminary findings into the cause of mass death of the fish that were washed ashore last weekend indicate that they may have died as a result of some stress factors.

Head of the Fish Health Unit at the Fisheries Commission, Dr. Peter Zidah said this were determined after samples of the gills of the dead fish were examined.

He said the fish which were washed ashore are said to have moved from the Western Coast before ending up dead at several coastal areas in the country.

Dr. Zidah called on the public to be patient with the Commission while it works around the clock to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the fish in such large quantities.
