British boxing superstar and former Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua paid a courtesy visit to Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House on Monday, June 16, 2025. This meeting followed his arrival in Ghana on June 13, where he was warmly received by fans and dignitaries. The visit highlighted Joshua’s engagement with Ghanaian officials and his interest in strengthening sports and cultural ties between the UK and Ghana.

Joshua, who is of Nigerian descent, traveled to Ghana to headline the “Battle of the Beasts” boxing event held at the Bukom Boxing Arena. The event was organized by Sharaf Mahama, CEO of Legacy Rise Sports, a prominent sports management and promotion company, alongside former British welterweight champion Amir Khan. Both organizers and notable guests were present at the Jubilee House to welcome the boxing star and discuss future collaborations in sports development.

Upon his arrival, Joshua was greeted enthusiastically by motorbike riders, showcasing Ghana’s vibrant culture and warm hospitality. In a gesture of appreciation, Ibrahim Mahama, brother of President Mahama and a well-known Ghanaian millionaire, gifted Joshua a brand new Honda motorbike. The gesture was celebrated widely on social media, symbolizing the strong bond and mutual respect between Joshua and Ghanaian supporters.

Looking ahead, Joshua is preparing for his next fight, with potential opponents including Moses Itauma, Jared Anderson, or Deontay Wilder. With a professional record of 28 wins and four losses, and having secured gold at the 2012 Olympics, Joshua remains a significant figure in global boxing. His visit to Ghana underscores his commitment to building connections and promoting the sport in Africa.
