The Confederation of African Football (CAF), under President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has raised the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner’s prize from $7 million to $10 million.

This bold increase reflects CAF’s ambition for growth and unwavering belief in the value of African football.

Motsepe’s leadership shines through this decision, rewarding excellence while motivating teams across the continent. It elevates the prestige of AFCON, Africa’s premier tournament, drawing more investment and talent.

As Morocco gears up to host AFCON 2025 from December 21 to January 18, the prize hike signals the event’s grand scale, top-tier quality, and rising global appeal. Expect packed stadiums and intense battles under the North African spotlight.

For contenders like defending champions Ivory, Senegal’s Lions of Teranga, and Egypt’s Pharaohs, the extra $3 million adds fuel to fierce rivalries. Underdogs now have even more incentive to dream big.

This move strengthens AFCON’s position as a worldwide spectacle, attracting sponsors and boosting African football’s sustainability long-term.
