The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially confirmed the postponement of the inaugural WAFU A and B Under-20 Boys’ Cup. The tournament was expected to be the first edition of the regional youth competition aimed at fostering football development among young talents across West Africa.

Originally scheduled to kick off on June 15, 2025, the tournament was to be held in Prampram from June 15 to 30. However, the GFA cited the need to ensure optimal conditions for the competition as the reason for the delay. A new date will be announced once arrangements are finalised, the association stated in an official release.

The GFA urged all participating teams, officials, and stakeholders to remain patient and follow official channels for updates. The association emphasised its commitment to delivering a successful and exciting competition, which it believes will significantly benefit youth football development in the region.

Officials noted that the rescheduling aims to provide the best possible environment for the young athletes and ensure the event’s overall success. The postponement, they added, reflects the GFA’s dedication to organizing a tournament that meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
