Hearts of Oak is actively working to resolve a $70,000 transfer dispute with New Edubiase, according to Communications Director Kwame Opare Addo. The club is making efforts to settle the issue promptly, amid ongoing negotiations with the Division One League side. The situation has garnered attention due to its potential impact on the club’s operations and reputation.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has imposed a transfer ban on Hearts of Oak after the club failed to meet the deadline to pay the disputed amount. The sum is rooted in a decision by the GFA Players’ Status Committee, which mandated Hearts of Oak to pay $50,000 for an outstanding transfer fee related to Salim Adams, plus an additional $20,000 representing 40 percent of an onward transfer fee. The payment was due but was not made within the stipulated timeframe.
Opare Addo confirmed that the club is in constant communication with New Edubiase and is working to resolve the issue swiftly. He expressed optimism that an agreement could be reached soon, stating, “When it is eventually resolved, New Edubiase will testify to it that it is resolved.” The club is actively engaging the other party to ensure compliance and settle the outstanding balance.
Sources indicate that Hearts of Oak attempted to settle the matter about a week ago by informing Edubiase that a $20,000 cheque was ready, but the offer was declined. As a result of the unresolved payment, the GFA’s disciplinary regulations now restrict Hearts of Oak from registering new players both domestically and internationally until the full amount is paid.
The transfer ban carries serious consequences, including potential points deduction or relegation if the club fails to comply with the GFA’s directives. Hearts of Oak remains committed to resolving the dispute and ensuring that the club can continue its operations without further sanctions.
