Ghana Premier League Matchweek 29 produced exciting results that could have significant implications for both the title race and relegation battle.
Interim coach Karim Zito took charge of Asante Kotoko for the first time and led them to a crucial 1-0 victory over Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, giving the team a much-needed boost.
Meanwhile, Vision FC boosted their survival hopes with a 2-0 win over league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema. The victory moved Vision FC four points clear of the relegation zone, while Gold Stars missed the opportunity to extend their lead at the top, with other contenders closing in. FC Samartex also secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.
Berekum Chelsea dealt a blow to Nation FC’s title hopes with a 1-0 win at the Golden City Park. Stephen Amankona’s 29th-minute goal proved to be the difference in a closely contested match that denied Nation FC a fifth consecutive home win. Meanwhile, Karela United’s poor form continued as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Dreams FC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, their fourth loss in five matches, further complicating their survival chances.
In other matches, Heart of Lions maintained their impressive form with a 1-0 win over Legon Cities, thanks to Christian Boateng’s first-half strike. Medeama SC also returned to winning ways, dominating Young Apostles 3-0. Additionally, Accra Lions secured a vital 2-0 victory against Bechem United at the Accra Sports Stadium, with goals from Jacob Awoute and Bernard Kesse helping boost their chances of staying in the top flight.
