Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has announced his resignation as President of the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B).

The decision follows his recent appointment as 2nd Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

This move reflects the increasing demands on Okraku’s time due to his responsibilities at both the continental and national levels.

Okraku expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve WAFU B, highlighting the honor he felt in leading the regional football body.

However, he emphasized that his expanded responsibilities at the GFA and CAF make it necessary for him to focus fully on his national and continental commitments. He assured stakeholders that the transition would be smooth and that a new leader would be appointed soon.

In his tenure, Okraku contributed significantly to the development of WAFU B, focusing on regional cooperation and unity. Under his leadership, the zone saw the relocation of its permanent Secretariat and the implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at fostering growth and collaboration among member associations. His efforts helped solidify the zone’s influential voice in African football governance.

Okraku also took a moment to thank the staff at the WAFU B Headquarters for their dedication and professionalism. He encouraged them to continue upholding the organization’s values and to remain committed to the zone’s ongoing development. His leadership was marked by a commitment to peace, unity, and progress within the region.
