The Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA), in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in the Volta Region, has concluded a four-day trophy tour ahead of the Volta Regional Middle League, scheduled for 7–15 June 2025 in Ho.
The trophy began its journey on June 2, touring communities across the Volta and Oti Regions. The team made strategic stops in districts and municipalities including Kadjebi, home to the eight qualified Division Two League teams, as well as Hohoe, Aveyime, Fievie, Akatsi, Ave Dakpa, Ho, and Kpetoe.
The coveted trophy was showcased against the backdrop of the region’s notable tourist sites, blending sports promotion with regional tourism.
The tour ended with a grand launch event in Kpetoe, hosted by Nene Akoto VI, Warlord of the Agotime Ziope Traditional Area. This final stop, home to Kpetoe Diamond FC, saw the official unveiling of the week-long football festival, the Regional Middle League.
Throughout the tour, Volta FA officials engaged football enthusiasts, local communities, and stakeholders. Regional FA Chairman, Daniel Agbogah, used the opportunity to outline his vision for grassroots football development.
He highlighted his administration’s efforts to expand the game across all districts and made a direct appeal to traditional leaders and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

“To truly develop the game at the grassroots, we need infrastructural support and good playing fields.
We urge our Chiefs and MMDCEs to provide office space and equipment for our District and Municipal Football Associations,” said Mr Agbogah.
He also extended a personal invitation to all Chiefs and MMDCEs to attend the Middle League in Ho.
In response, several traditional leaders and MMDCEs commended the FA and Tourism Authority for promoting football and tourism. They encouraged their district teams to strive for victory and pledged support for local Football Associations with office space and equipment.
Eight teams will compete for promotion to the National Division One League. They include Yadzo Oti Warriors, Akatsi Kickers FC, Kpetoe Diamond FC, Selion FC, Aveyime Soccer Wonders, Nugata FC, NADM SC, and WAFA SC.

Team captains expressed confidence and pledged to fight hard to bring the trophy home to their communities.
The Regional FA’s innovative trophy tour, which combined football with tourism promotion, has drawn praise from stakeholders across the football landscape.
As the Middle League kicks off in Ho, fans and officials alike are anticipating a week of electrifying matches and fierce competition for the ultimate prize.
