WAFA SC secures promotion to National Division One League

West African Football Academy SC (WAFA SC) has earned a hard-fought promotion to the National Division One League after defeating Kpetoe Diamond FC 2-1 in the 2024/25 Volta Regional Division Two Middle League final.

The highly anticipated match at the Youth Resource Center in Adaklu lived up to its billing, delivering drama and crucial goals. 

WAFA SC drew first blood just before halftime, with Hallo Issa breaking the deadlock in the 40th minute.

However, Kpetoe Diamond FC responded through Tamakloe Oscar who silenced the WAFA SC’s bench and supporters with a well-taken equalizer in the 45+1 minute.

The pivotal moment arrived early in the second half, as WAFA SC reclaimed the lead just eight minutes after recess.

Sudais Yakubu emerged as the hero, firing home what would ultimately be the winning goal in the 57th minute.

WAFA SC’s promotion marks the conclusion of an incredible unbeaten season.

The academy side secured 18 wins from 18 games in the preliminary stage, before winning all three matches in the Sub-Middle League.

In the Regional Middle League, the final phase of the league, WAFA SC clinched the title with three wins and a draw.

With their promotion, WAFA SC returns to the 2025/26 Access Bank Division One League, joining regional compatriots Inter Allies FC, and Homestars FC.
