The year’s GHANA GOLD EXPO has opened in Takoradi on the theme, “ZERO MERCURY”.
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Kweku Asomah-Cheremeh who opened the conference on behalf of President Akufo-Addo said the Western Region was the hub for gold mining and contributing immensely to the economic development of the country.
He said government recognizes the need for the promotion of green technology in mineral extraction and will therefore ensure that, Ghana’s gold supply is derived from responsible mining processes devoid of the use of mercury.
