Head of government’s COVID-19 testing programme, Professor William Ampofo has backed governments claims on the authenticity of the testing equipment at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), saying it is 99.9% accurate.

Professor Ampofo explained that the machine works well and is very sensitive.

Issues have emerged over the viability of the machine and the reason why government should charge as high as 150 dollars for testing.

However, Professor Ampofo said government looked at getting a system that gives quality of samples and cost effectiveness.

Meanwhile, Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Patrick Kumah Aboagye has again justified governments $150 charge for the Covid-19 test at the Airport.

He said government charging that amount is not in violation of any International Health Regulation.

Meanwhile 247 people have been tested at the Airport two days after it was opened. So far none of the travellers have tested positive for Covid-19.
