There was a domestic flight from Accra to the Ho airport on Thursday which organizers say was purely for technical observation.

This notwithstanding, the events witnessed a sizeable number of people within the Ho municipality trooping to the airport to witness the event.

The Volta regional minister Dr. Archibald Letsa led a delegation from the Volta regional coordinating council and some representatives of Asogli to witness the test flight.

The flight took about 20 minutes, as the plane that took off from Accra at about 2:00 pm arrived at exactly 2:20pm.

The technical team from Africa World Airlines describes the test flight as a success and one which will inform them on their next line of action, as discussions on the first commercial flight progress.

The deputy director-general of the Ghana civil aviation authority, Mr. Daniel Acquah said Passion Air has also expressed interest to start commercial flights to the Volta region.

He therefore urged the people of the region to patronize the service to attract more airlines to the region.

The Volta regional minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa also called on the people to help sustain the service to their part of the country.

The Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede was hopeful that airport will boost tourism and other economic activities in the region when it becomes fully operational.

The Ho airport was completed at over 25 million dollars and handed over to government about three years ago.
