Former US Vice-President Walter Mondale dies aged 93

Former US President, Jimmy Carter, has paid tribute to his former Vice President, Walter Mondale, who died yesterday at the age of 93.

Mr. Carter credits the late Mr. Mondale as an invaluable partner. The former President said he considers Mr. Mondale the best Vice-President in US history.

Mr. Mondale is also remembered for choosing Geraldine Ferraro of New York as his running mate, the first woman on a major party’s presidential ticket.

In a statement, Mr. Carter said Mr. Mondale is an invaluable partner and an able servant of the people of Minnesota, the US, and the world at large.

Mr. Carter joins all Americans in giving thanks for Mr. Mondale’s exemplary life and extends his deepest condolences to the family.
