The Chiefs and people of Mafi-Adidome in the Volta Region have celebrated a historic occasion as His Excellency Ambassador Professor Hugh Keku Aryee, Vanuatu Trade Commissioner to Ghana, paid an official visit to the community.
The colourful ceremony, marked by cultural displays and traditional rites, saw the chiefs honour Prof. Keku Aryee with a ceremonial cloth in recognition of his commitment to the people and his efforts to strengthen development partnerships.
The gesture, according to traditional authorities, symbolised respect, acceptance, and unity between the Vanuatu Trade Commission and the people of Mafi-Adidome.

A major highlight of the visit was the formal launch of the AI Africa Project, an ambitious initiative spearheaded by the Vanuatu Trade Commission in partnership with the African Diaspora Central Bank. The project seeks to train millions of Africans in artificial intelligence (AI), empowering rural communities such as Mafi-Adidome to play an active role in the global digital economy.
During the event, local youth showcased AI projects they had already begun developing under the initiative. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Aryee described the project as transformative.
“This visit is not just ceremonial; it is a turning point for the people of Mafi-Adidome. We are bringing investment, knowledge, and partnerships that will open doors of opportunity for generations to come,” he said.
In addition to digital training, Prof. Aryee announced funding support for community development in education, healthcare, youth entrepreneurship, and innovation. He emphasised that the Vanuatu Trade Commission’s vision was to drive inclusive and sustainable growth.
For residents, the Commissioner’s visit represented more than international cooperation, it signified hope. A community elder noted, “This is proof that even small towns can become global players if given the right tools and support.”

The event attracted people from surrounding towns including Battor, Sogakope, Mepe, Mafi Kumase, and Tefle, underscoring regional interest in the opportunities being introduced.
Looking ahead, the Vanuatu Trade Commission has pledged to make Mafi-Adidome a model for AI driven rural development in Ghana and across West Africa. The visit highlighted the potential of blending tradition with modern technology, positioning Mafi-Adidome as a symbol of Africa’s readiness for the digital future.

As AI
As the AI Revolution grips the global community and the 4th Industrial Revolution becomes a reality, it is now more and more urgent and incumbent on Africa to add more grease to our elbow regarding the training of our youth in all parts of our various communities.
The time is now as the Pan Africa ideals and agenda start to renew itself across the Continent of Africa.
The work and efforts of the Vanuatu Trade Commission in Ghana under the African Diaspora Central Bank led by H. E. Ambassador K. Aryee therefore timely. African countries ought to seize this golden opportunity to avail themselves and accept the training of all youths within their various communities irrespective of their geographical location.
For Africa to understand how to be part of and understand the operations of Fintech industry especially how to access all cryptocurrencies as well as other digital currencies such as the AKL Lumi, in line with the Continental African Free Trade Area, it is now the time to embrace AI importance and operationalize it in all spheres of our financial, economic and political life.
Our commendations and gratitude should therefore go to HE K. Aryee of the Vanuatu Trade Commission in Ghana for his relentless efforts to train communities in Ghana and Africa in Artificial Intelligence.
