The Ghanaian Times says political violence does not augur well for the country. It says Ghana has achieved an enviable reputation as one of Africa’s leading countries whose democratic development is a beacon for others to follow. It is to this effect that the paper agrees with the calls by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to the Security agencies to deal swiftly with emerging pockets of electoral violence to repose confidence in them moving into the 2020 elections. It expresses disappointment at the fact that some political actors have through their actions and statements taken the country’s relative peace and security for granted. The Times advises the public to work together as citizens to ensure a violent-free election.

The Daily Graphic finds the commitment shown by the NDC and NPP to amend the Assets and Liabilities Act to fight corruption very refreshing. It believes the passage of the Act to hold appointees in check has become lame and achieved less because the declaration of assets by these public officers is not made public for scrutiny. The paper says the pledge by the two political parties should not be allowed to go down the drain. It believes that as a nation, the authorities must ensure that assets declared can be verified at any given time with the right values. The Graphic says the lukewarm attitude usually exhibited around serious issues such as corruption should not be tolerated.
