The Ghanaian Times writes on the Bagre Dam spillage tragedy which has resulted in the collapse of buildings along the banks of the dam. It says this year’s floods appear to be very serious and therefore the need for the country to direct its attention to the flood prone area to save life and property. The Paper suggests that the nation’s focus should be directed at providing solution to the people living in the area. The Ghanaian Times it is happy that the Vice President visited the communities along the Bolgatanga Bawku road in the Upper East Region to sympathize with the victims. According to the paper although the Vice President`s visit may not immediately resolve the problems the people are facing, it is reassuring that the government is keeping an eye on the situation and would offer support to the affected communities. The Times says, this year’s devastation should therefore serve as the basis for the country to find the appropriate solution to the challenge posed by the annual spillage.

As Ghana prepares for the December 7 polls, all attention is on how to hold the nation together in Peace and Stability. It is on this premise that the Graphic lauds President Akuffo-Addo’s assurance to uphold the Peace and Stability of the country before, during and after the 2020 elections. It says the President’s assurance alone cannot be realized if other primary stakeholders in the electoral process, including political parties, presidential and parliamentary aspirants do not support his call. The Daily Graphic urges the EC to increase public engagements and deepen its accountability mechanism, including working closely with the Inter Party Committee, IPAC to enhance public confidence in activities of the Commission and also entreat the NCCE to vigorously educate the public on the perils of violence, and the importance of national cohesion in order to instill in the Ghanaian electorate a sense of patriotism.
