The Ghanaian Times describes as welcome news the securing of a €76 million deal with Sewerage System Ghana Limited to undertake the rehabilitation and expansion of the Tema Central Sewerage System to deal with the continuous spillage of the system. The Paper hopes government will support the two institutions to complete the rehabilitation work on schedule to bring relief to residents of Tema.  It hopes the Tema Metropolitan Assembly and Sewerage System Ghana Limited will be fully committed to the project and do whatever they can to solve the age-old problem in the area once and for all.  The Times urges the residents as well as squatters who have built on unauthorized places to cooperate with the city authorities by voluntarily quitting those places to give way for smooth rehabilitation work on the sewerage systems.

The DAILY HERITAGE calls on the current and subsequent governments to do more to improve the poor housing situation in the country. It says experts put Ghana’s housing deficit at a whopping one point seven million and that is clearly nothing to write home about.  The Paper says shelter is a necessity of life and that is why it urges the government and the Rent Control Department to walk-the-talk rather than pleasing the ears of citizens  with  flowery words only to go back to sleep as they have been doing over the  years.

The DAILY GRAPHIC calls for critical stakeholder engagement for the re-opening of schools. The Paper agrees with the Ghana National Association of Private Schools in the assertion that with most sectors of the country such as politics, religion, transportation, trade and manufacturing, hospitality and tourism, returning to normalcy, the educational system must also learn to operate even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Graphic advises that the country hastens slowly with clear expert advice on the way forward, so that the   health of teachers, students, pupils and staff and their families are not unnecessarily jeopardized by exposing them to danger.
