The Daily Graphic describes as welcoming government’s budget allocation of 9.3 Billion Ghana Cedis to enhance and bridge the infrastructure gap. This is because it will go a long way to stimulate economic activity in the country. The paper notes that the allocation from the budget alone cannot give the country all it requires. It is happy there is money from other sources to support government’s development efforts. The Graphic cautions contractors who are likely to win the contracts to execute these important projects to specification. It urges stakeholders to ensure that the budget is spent judiciously.

The Ghanaian Times congratulates the Ghana Journalists Association on its 70th anniversary. Backed by the 1992 Constitution, the paper is of the view that the Association has made tremendous strides in guarding press freedom, freedom of speech and protection of the rights of journalists. According to the Times, the fourth Republic Constitution has brought to the GJA, a renaissance that has raised the Association’s profile, independence and influence in the country. The paper salutes the Association for its sacrifices that have paved the way for journalism and press freedom to thrive in the country. Now that the Association has left the stage for new set of actors to take the spotlight, the Times questions the GJA on what the current crop of journalists is doing to sustain the efforts of their forebears and what will they be remembered for in the next 70 years?
