The Ghanaian Times believes suggestions by the teacher unions to the authorities to reconsider the decision not to open all streams of schools in the country is very useful and if any consideration is to be made for the reopening of the schools, these are some of the pieces of information which should be taken into account. The paper urges government to consider the suggestion by Child Rights International whilst it looks at all the necessary protocols before reopening the schools. It believes keeping the schools closed may affect the children’s education in many ways. The Times therefore encourages Ghanaians to tread cautiously in the interest of the children while instituting measures that would prevent the spread of COVID-19 when schools reopen.

The Daily Graphic congratulates President Akufo-Addo on his election as Chairman of  the regional bloc, ECOWAS. The Paper is pleased with his election because he has the wherewithal to pass the test. It believes  President Akufo-Addo can provide the needed leadership that will ensure that the interest of more than 300 million  citizens of ECOWAS, are served through the accelerated implementation of sectoral programmes such as the creation of a single currency, adoption of a single biometric identity card , trade liberalization, multilateral surveillance and the Common External Tariff, CET, for wealth creation. The Graphic says  West Africa is  making  impressive progress in economic growth, democratisation and regional cooperation. It is for this reason that the Paper supports the election of President Akufo-Addo as Chairperson of ECOWAS, at a time when strong leadership is required to promote and sustain the economic development of the bloc.
