The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has paid glowing tribute to Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, describing him as one of the nation’s greatest cultural ambassadors.

Leading management of the Ministry to express condolences to the family of the iconic musician, Mr. Ablakwa signed the book of condolence in honour of the celebrated artist.

The Foreign Affairs Minister said Daddy Lumba’s contribution to the global recognition of Ghana’s rich cultural heritage cannot be overstated.

“Ghana’s finest ambassadors are not only those who make it to the staff list of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Daddy Lumba was Ghana’s creative arts ambassador par excellence,” he stated.

According to Mr. Ablakwa, the legendary musician’s body of work earned Ghana international acclaim, as his music brought the essence of Ghanaian highlife to global audiences.

“Many across the world fell in love with authentic Ghanaian highlife and our country’s unrivaled cultural tapestry because of his genius,” he noted.

The Minister added that while Daddy Lumba’s passing is a great loss, Ghanaians can take solace in the enduring legacy of his music.

“We have great consolation, the compositions of this genius will never die,” he said

The tribute comes amid a nationwide outpouring of grief and celebration of the life and legacy of Daddy Lumba, widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most influential and beloved musicians.
