Veteran Actor and Vice Chairman for the ‘Highlife is Alive’ Fan Club, Mr. David Dontor, says the 2022 concert scheduled for Saturday 7th January, 2023 at the GBC ZOY Gardens, is to  promote highlife music and celebrate the life of late Ghanaian Highlife legend, Nana Ampedu who died last year (2022).
Speaking on GTV Breakfast Show ahead of the  concert, Mr David Dontor disclosed that, there is the need to support such events because “our music is our heritage” and it is a way of leaving a legacy for future generations.
He said that the youth cannot be blamed for their lack of interest in Highlife music because industry players have failed to actively involve the youth in their activities
He added that Highlife is a holistic combination of rhythm, beats, language and more.
For his part, Acting President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Mr. Bessa Simons also added his voice by encouraging the youth on the need to get involved to keep Ghana’s heritage alive.
Great Highlife Musicians such as Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Bessa Simons, Boakye Yiadom, Madam Naa Amanua among others are expected to perform at the concert.
