Renowned Ghanaian actress, television personality and entrepreneur, Nana Ama McBrown, has shared her inspiring story of overcoming challenges to achieve success, stating that she is now comfortable with where she is in life.

“Even though I don’t have much, I can say I am very satisfied and comfortable now,” she said.

Speaking at the Women of Valour event in London, she revealed that she grew up taking care of her sister’s children until she had her own child at the age of 42.

McBrown recounted growing up with her grandmother, who was raising six children. She said she often woke up early to sell gari and soap to help make ends meet.

Despite the difficulties she faced growing up, McBrown expressed gratitude and satisfaction with her current life, attributing her success to hard work and determination.

She emphasised the importance of pursuing one’s passion regardless of educational qualifications, revealing that she works with about 14 major brands in Ghana despite not having a formal certificate.

The Women of Valour event, founded by media personality Nana Aba Anamoah, aims to recognise and celebrate women who have overcome significant challenges and inspire others through their stories of courage and resilience.

This year’s event featured speakers including Nigerian actress Kate Henshaw and childhood sexual abuse survivor Debora Shanley, among others.

McBrown’s story, organisers said, serves as a testament to the power of perseverance and determination.
