Executive Vice President of Columbia Records, Abou “Bu” Thiam has disclosed that budding afrobeat sensation Olivetheboy was signed onto the Columbia Records label because of his unique artistic values.

According to the younger brother of Sorry, Blame It On Me hitmaker, Akon, Olivetheboy comes across as a very talented artiste, incredible songwriter, performer, and musician. These qualities, he said, set him above his fellows in the industry.

Speaking to Kafui Dey on the GTV Breakfast Show, the former manager of Kanye West revealed he had an instant inclination towards the Goodsin sensation after listening to his EP.

“He came to my attention through one of my workers back in the States. And after listening to the EP, I just said to myself, I got to meet this kid because he had something that was different from other artistes from Africa,” Mr. Thiam stated.

The Goodsin track is not only contagious but has attracted the executive Vice President of Columbia Records to Ghana for the first time.

Mr. Thiam is currently in Ghana and on a media tour with his new signee.
