Thousands thronged the Independence Square on Saturday, October 18, to join ShattaFest 2025, an event held to celebrate Ghana’s dancehall artist Shatta Wale on his birthday. The event, held on October 17 and 18, drew massive crowds from all parts of Ghana, with the main concert lighting up the square on Saturday night.
The atmosphere was electrifying as motor riders thrilled fans with breathtaking stunts, while underground artists took turns to perform live, showing off their talent to the roaring crowd. Fans from across the country, including Peller and Jiggy from Nigeria, joined in the fun, proving Shatta Wale’s influence goes far beyond Ghana.
The stage also featured performances from top acts like Kweku Flick, Patapaa, Moliy, Amerado, Wendy Shay, and Lyrical Joe, who kept the energy high with their hit songs. Popular dancers such as Dancegod Lloyd and his crew got the crowd moving with their powerful dance routines.
By afternoon, fans had already started filling the square, dressed in white — the official dress code for the night. Many travelled from outside Accra and even beyond Ghana just to witness the unforgettable celebration. Akuapem Poloo, Jacqueline the TikTok Goddess, and prominent YouTuber Wode Maya also joined the fun, making the event even more vibrant.
Even though there were a few minor issues such as car accidents, people passing out, and heavy traffic at the venue, the security team — made up of the Ghana Police, Military, Immigration, Fire, and Ambulance Services — acted quickly and ensured everything returned to normal. At one point, the lights went off during Darkovibes’ performance, but the fans never left. They patiently waited until the lights came back on, showing just how much they love their artist.
The festival ended in grand style, full of cheers, music, and memories that will last a lifetime.
