Two persons have been shot dead with about 20 others wounded by armed Police and military officers who had gone to Alavanyo Dzogbedze in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region, to burn suspected Indian hemp farms.

According to eyewitnesses, the exercise to burn the suspected Indian hemp started a chain of events that angered the youth who hooted and threw stones at the Police officers.

This forced the police officers to open fire indiscriminately at the crowd.
