The Electoral Commission (EC) has decided to use the colour yellow to depict a YES vote and dark brown to depict a NO vote on the ballot paper in the upcoming December 17, 2019 referendum for the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa.

The Referendum seeks to amend Clause 3 of Article 55 of the 1992 Constitution, to enable Political Parties to sponsor candidates for election to District Assemblies or Local Government Units.

It said all eligible voters who intend to vote in favour of the Bill are required to thumbprint in the Box beside the colour YELLOW whilst those not in favour are required to thumbprint in the Box beside the colour DARK BROWN.
