VEEP Bawumia launches book on life and works of Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has paid tribute to Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia for his role in nurturing Ghana’s democracy.
Speaking at the launch of the K. A. Busia’s Book themed ‘ “A Symbol Of Democracy” an exploration of His life and works, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said the former Prime Minister was a generational thinker who championed rural industrialization.
He therefore reiterated that current administration is following the Philosophies of the late K. A. Busia and also urged the younger generation to follow suit.
K. A. Busia was born on 11th July 1913 to a royal family. He was adopted by two missionaries of the Methodist Church Rev William Whittle and his wife Mrs. Alice Whittle because of his academic brilliance.
His stay with the missionaries was also in line with the cultural practice of giving out young royals with great potentials to be groomed outside the palace environment.
He was not overwhelmed by his academic performance but rather remained focused on His studies. It is in view of this that Mr Anane Agyei embarked on a research into the life and work of the Late Prime Minister to make public his achievements.
K.A Busia is an invaluable collection of material relating to the life’s and works of the Late K.A Busia, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Ghana during the country’s second attempt at constitutional rule.
It throws more light on His life wand works and what he stood for.
Speaking on the theme K. A. Busia A symbol of democracy, Exploration of His life and works’ the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana said K. A. Busia was a generational speaker and an advocate for rural industralization.
He added that His life works and visions should be emulated as he was the Champion for Democracy among others.
The Board Chairman to the Busia Institute for Rural and Democratic Development, Mr K.G Osei Bonsu added that we should pursue democracy by following the steps of Dr K.A Busia who was the symbol of democracy.
