Disaster looms as passengers cross River Oti without Life Jackets

It may seem to be normal for them but in life, what is not normal is playing with the lives of people.

River Oti is the main source of transportation for traders in the Oti region and other crosses before getting to the other side of the region.

River Oti separates Krachi west and Krachi Nchumuru from part of the Oti region.

Many traders day in and day out continue to risk their lives by not wearing life jackets, as they cross the river daily, to do business to and from heading to parts of the Volta and Greater Accra Regions.

The other source of crossing is by pontoon, the ‘Yapei queen’ but those who are in a hurry to do their business abandon that source to use boats.

Interacting with the passengers, one woman who was worried about the delay of the boat owners said, ‘brother what is keeping you waiting when the boat is full and you even want more passengers when you don’t have life jackets, she said in the local dialect.
