As part of the Easter Monday activities, GBC News also visited the Efua Sunderland Children’s park and the Labadi beach to interact with revelers observing the holiday celebration.

“It’s my first time in Ghana celebrating Easter but, it’s very nice and I enjoy the atmosphere”, a reveler said.

” My Easter Monday is so nice. I am going to play football and I am number 5 for my Church which I am in, Calvary Alegboshie Presbyterian Church of Ghana”, another noted.

“We just woke up for an event and Easter Monday is just for us to have fun then we noticed that the weather is ….but then the day is young so we just started the celebration and I am sure by the close of the day we will all have fun”.

” I am a taxi driver. I came with my car and I will park my car here and wait here. We are with the bouncy castle. After that, probably in the evening I will go and chill small and take one club. I am here to support her. so we will wait until the program is over then we go home together”, the fun loving people told GBC News.

On the issue of Covid, the revelers said it has not affected the celebrations because they believe the pandemic is gone for good.

“No, we are not wearing masks. They are not asking us if we are vaccinated or not. I don’t see there is Covid somewhere”.

” It was so fake, more than world war 2. It was fake because we believed it was fake”, one person opined.

”I was telling my colleagues this is the first time I have come to the beach. I think with fun people know no limits. If people want to have fun, they will have fun. I don’t think covid is going to stop people from having fun”.

” I don’t think covid will cause any harm here. A lot of people will be coming for the celebration and looking at the setup, an event of this nature has happened before and people have actually trooped in to have fun so I am sure a lot of people will be coming around”.

“Covid has not affected this year’s celebration because since restrictions have been laid off, most people aso travel to Kwahu for Easter. I feel like this year’s Covid has been good. The President has restricted the use of nose masks, so now movement, more than 100 guests can go, so I don’t see Covid affecting this year at all.

At the La Beach, the usual crowd that characterises the occasion was absent due to the rains. However some Christian groups took the opportunity to undertake evangelism.

”My name is Bennet and this is my friend. Her name is Juliet. We are celebrating Easter by evangelizing at the beach because we think the reason for the season is Christ. It’s good to have fun. Don’t get me wrong but it’s even more important to have fun at the right time and the right way in Christ. That’s one message we want to tell everybody that being in Christ is not supposed to be cumbersome, it’s not supposed to be boring. You can have good fun in Christ. So we are here just to remind people about Christ, share the message of Christ and let people know that no matter what situation in which you are, no matter what background, no matter what it is, Christ still loves you so that is what we are doing”, the Evangelism went on and on…
